The Official SMART UV Detective's 1000 Dollar Challenge Contest Rules

Here are the “SMART UV $1,000 Challenge Contenders.”

We selected these companies because they attach a specific UV dose (30,000 uWs/cm2) to their exaggerated UV water flow rate, helping us to prove the exaggeration.

    Aqua Ultraviolet
Aqua Ultraviolet specifies on their 2007 Price List that their “Classic” 40 Watt UV will provide a UV dose of 30,000 uWs/cm2 at a flow rate of 2,000 GPH, based on the lamp’s EOL (End of Useful Lamp Life) performance.

FACT: Exaggerated more than 3 x’s when compared to a properly designed 40 watt UV!

    Current-USA / GAMMA UV
Current-USA specifies on their website that their model #1403, 40 watt UV at a flow rate of 2,880 GPH will provide a UV exposure of 30,000 uWs/cm2

FACT: Exaggerated almost 5 x’s when compared to a properly designed 40 watt UV!

    W. Lim Corporation
W. Lim Corporation’s website promotes their model #3252, 40 watt unit delivering a UV exposure of 30,000 uWs/cm2 at a flow rate of 4,080 GPH

FACT:Exaggerated almost 7 x’s when compared to a properly designed 40 watt UV!
