They utilize the lamp’s UV-C light output to its maximum potential. The “Competitor UV Water Flow Rate Comparison Chart” (Shown below - left) compares the UV flow rate based on true UV equipment capacity (Green) versus what the manufacturer recommends (Red). Here we are comparing Emperor Aquatics, Aqua Ultraviolet, Gamma UV Current-USA and Tetra.
The “UV Specification Comparison Chart” (Shown below - right) shows the critical specifications used to calculate each unit’s true capacity. Science proves these UV manufacturer’s recommended UV flow rates, in no way represent the equipment’s true capacity. Here we are comparing the same units: Emperor Aquatics, Aqua Ultraviolet, Gamma UV Current-USA and Tetra.
Unfortunately, our pond and water garden market is not regulated to protect
the consumer like other markets, and it seems that these competitors know
it, because they continue to advertise exaggerated claims and water flow
rates. In the end the customer suffers and the hobby, as a whole, loses.

What about the Competitions' Dealers?
For the most part, water garden dealers are great people, hard working, honest and mindful of their customers’ success. But what about those that cut the manufacturers’ UV flow rates in half… is that accurate information? Conducting business in this way condones the actions of those manufacturers who already over-rate their products.
